My Vampire Obsession

Yesterday one of my friends asked me "why are u all gals obsessed with vampires?". I immediately took the defensive ,"I don't know about others, but of course am not! kuch bhi!".…then he said, "but well, then why are you always reading  vampire books ?!" I didn’t have any reply to that so I just said," I ain't, but anyways they are more interesting.." that made him drop the subjct…cos not being an avid reader, he didn’t have any idea whether they were interesting or not..:p

But his question got me thinking .."Am I really obsessed with vampires? No am not..am I??"

well it wasn't the first time someone had said that to me..a fellow book lover Akhileshwari, had accused me about the same several times..& not just about being obsessed with vampires in general, but with being obsessed with Edward Cullen in particular…& maybe there's some truth to it…one of my friend, a "Edward hater" even asked me, what do you actually see in him? He looks so washed out & bloodless in comparison 2 Jacob! (I guess by "him" she actually meant  "Robert Pattinson" & not Edward Cullen, but I kinda love both, so sometimes its difficult to differentiate them :p) she had a point though..in new moon Rob does look washed out & pale in comparison to Jacob..but my mind countered "he's supposed to look like that duh! oh but I do love Jacob in new moon totally, so forget that"..that's how I made her shut her mouth..

But coming back to the point, I guess I am vampire obsessed..& it all started with Stephanie Meyer's  "twilight series"..the way she's portrayed Edward, made me fall in love with him! & how can any gal not fall in love with him? He is every girls dream man & am pretty sure that those who say that they hate him, are only pretending to be different from the  "majority"..of course am not saying I hate Jacob, I love him too, but he's kinda best friend material,& maybe if someone like Edward wouldn’t have been in the story, then he'd be the one I'd have fallen for..but then truth of the matter is Edwards present in the story,& with him there, there's no way I can fall for anyone else!..but then that's just Edward...

so why actually am I obsessed with vampire's in general? …to be truthful, there's no real answer for that..maybe the answer I gave the guy is the truth, or at least a  part of it..vampire books ARE more interesting then majority of the others..I started off with the "twilight series" ,followed by Richelle Mead's "vampire academy series", Cassandra Claire's "mortal instruments series ", Rachel Caine's "Morganville vampires series" & P.C.Cast's "The house of night series" ..& I loved most of them!.. 

I generally love fantasy fiction,& even in that I find vampire fiction more interesting..while searching for new books to read & reading  up book reviews, the 1st thing I look out for is whether there's a vampire in it, so maybe that is a reason..or maybe it's just that I am still searching for an Edward type character in all the books I read,& I instinctively think that there's more chance of finding him in vampire books..or maybe there's no reason at all..:)

But yeah I AM "obsessed" with vampires,& I ain't ashamed of it!! :)
